SCW CHRISTIAN CHURCH (SCWCC) was established December 12, 1991, under the leadership of First Christian Church of Sun City. The present church sanctuary was built in February 1997, and underwent an expansion in 2011.
SCWCC has always been a spiritual storehouse in the West Valley of the Phoenix area, where the Bible is taught as God’s inspired and ever-relevant Word to man. It is a non-denominational fellowship of Christians from different religious backgrounds who have found a common acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord.
Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our authority on Christian beliefs and guide to living. We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, without error, given to us so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love.
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three distinct personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – each possessing all the attributes of Deity. God the Father is the creator and sustainer of the universe. God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but have been separated from God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to reconcile us to Him.
Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Savior and the Son of God, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and was raised from the grave. He will return as our victorious Lord. Jesus came to restore our relationship with God and Salvation comes only through faith in Him and cannot be earned through human effort. Repentance, confession and baptism by immersion are part of that faith and obedience to Jesus Christ. Baptism also depicts our union with Christ in his Death, Burial, and Resurrection. We believe everyone who accepts Christ as their Savior and responds in the manner laid out in the Scriptures will receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit who acts as a comforter, guide, and advocate on our behalf. God gives gifts to both men and women through the Holy Spirit for the benefit of service to Christ and the ministry of the church.
To receive the gift of eternal life you must first believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God, who died for your sins, rose from the dead, and is alive today. "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." - John 1:12
If you believe in Jesus Christ, that is great! Now what you need to do is repent of your sins. The Bible teaches us that this is an honest and genuine change of heart about sin, a turning from your ways to God's way, and essential if we want to receive the gift. "Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins." - Acts 3:19
Now it is time to match our repentance with confession. To acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord whenever and wherever called upon. "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in Heaven". - Matthew 10:32. It is to acknowledge Him verbally and publicly. "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9
Once you have acknowledged that Jesus Christ is Lord, baptism by immersion is the tangible way of showing that you trust Him alone for your salvation. "And now, why delay? Get up and be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on the name of the Lord". - Acts 22:16.
Some say that baptism is an outward symbol of an internal action. It is to be sure a symbol, a symbol that you are committed to Christ, but it also represents the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. "For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead".
- Colossians 2:12
Once you have received Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are born into God's family through the work of the Holy Spirit who dwells in every believer. This is commonly referred to as being "born again". "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God". - John 3:3.
Now you are a Christian and a new creation in Jesus Christ. "What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others". - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
When a person receives the glorious message of Jesus Christ, their life will never be the same.
We pray that God will bless your life as you grow closer to Him and know His wonderful and perfect love that He has for you. Please let us know if you have any questions or are ready to be baptized and begin your Christian walk.
