Carrying out Christ's command of taking the Gospel to the whole world, baptizing and teaching was not the first priority for Christians in Jerusalem right after Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. And, who can blame them? Being taught at the feet of the Apostles, who were all gathered in that place, must have been wonderful! But, there is a time for everything under Heaven. There is a time to learn and a time to teach; a time to be served and a time to serve others. Yet, the Christians in Jerusalem were not budging. Their needs were being met, the Holy Spirit was active and they had everything working for them. They weren't interested in sharing with outsiders.
Jesus had something else in mind for them. He allowed the Church to be attacked! The Bible says that the Jerusalem Church was scattered. Those Christians took the Gospel everywhere they went. Satan meant the attack for evil; but, God meant it for good—the saving of many lives.
Current events, brought on by the Coronavirus, has attacked our very way of life. Most Churches have decided to close until it is safe to reopen. Only essential businesses should remain open.
Sun City West Christian Church never closed. We are essential to the spiritual health and well-being of thousands. God has blessed us! Some may call us foolish and others would call us faithful. We have a huge opportunity for scattered Christians.
Sun City West Christian Church is a non-denominational Christian Church located between Surprise and Peoria. This community is made up of retirees ranging from 45 and older. It certainly qualifies as a mission field that Jesus described (fields white unto the harvest). There are 150,000 people living within a 5-mile radius around this church. There are two separate and distinct age-demographics. Within this same radius are communities with a median age of 38 years old; and other communities with a median age of 70 years old. They are living the same distance to this church. So far, we have only been reaching the elderly. But, with shuttered churches and scattered Christians, that limited ministry has the possibility of expanding to include everyone that Christ died for. We need help making this happen! We need to borrow displaced Christians because we know that window of opportunity will soon close.
We currently broadcast our services on two radio stations. One radio station has an Internet section that people around the world can access with the click of a button. When they do this, we know what City, State and Country they are listening from and how many minutes they listen to each message. That listening audience has been growing exponentially. On Easter Sunday, we had 229,686 Internet listeners! God is giving the growth! But, we could to so much more if we had help.
We have a huge opportunity for Christians...for you...to serve!
We humbly invite Christians to take a hiatus from their Jerusalem Church to go where Jesus needs them now. It you were involved in a ministry in your regular Church that you feel matches your potential, giftedness and Christ's calling, that is wonderful! If you want to expand and grow the gifts within you, consider this invitation to do so.
Sun City West Christian Church wants to begin ministries to every age group. We want to create a place for children, teens, young adults and older ages—for everyone Christ died for. We need anyone who is interested in helping to create these ministries to come and help us. You are encouraged to support your home church financially and to return there when their doors are open. In the meantime, can we please borrow you to help us get started?
